Rawtenstall Market – Back to school!

Something for the grown ups…

The kids are ready to go back to school. We are ready to start our second phase of improvements at Rawtenstall market. For this phase, work will be outside on the marketplace and inside within the Market Hall.

So far we have had some really great feedback and featured in the local and regional press and radio. Rossendale Borough Council are in the process of applying for a premises licence for the market. We will then have low level music & entertainment at the market plus we will be able to have alcohol sold and served responsibly throughout the site. This will mean we no longer have to apply for numerous temporary event notifications.

Beer

The outside marketplace now has a resident nano bar called “The Cabin” as we welcomed Three Valleys Brewery to the outside marketplace.

They have taken up use of a former empty double cabin, made some really cool alterations and improvements, installed some services and served some great beer up! They are already planning to expand into a large cabin facing the bar which they’ll use as a sheltered seating area. The bar will be hosting regular Sunday jam music sessions plus beer events so please keep tuned and check out the Three Valleys Brewery social media pages.

Food

The Thai Shack is known not just locally but regionally for it’s incredible fresh asian streetfood, there is huge demand for it and they are ALWAYS super busy!

Their wonderful food brings together the authentic tastes of Thailand and Asia.

They offer a selection of foods from numerous regions, cooked in an authentic and traditional Thai manner.

They have now decided to take another cabin space to create a new eating area for The Thai Shack. So, shortly, you will be able to order your food and either take it away or eat at the marketplace. If you choose to eat at the marketplace The Thai Shack will also be serving beer and non alcoholic drinks to enjoy with your food.

Please check out The Thai Shack social media pages for news, information and opening hours. Their contact number is 07761 802305.

Mandy White long established as “Chicken Fayre” has settled into her new des res food cabin and re-named her business The Chicken Coop

The Chicken Coop cabin looks fantastic! Thanks to Beth Field for the sign illustrations.  The Chicken Coop continues to serve take away foods such as roast chicken, fries & hot sandwiches but has introduced some really popular food items and bread selections including relishes, sauces and dips from local producers. Our Friday night social cleaned The Chicken Coop out!

OTHER NEWS

Emma Bywater (a market hall maker/trader) this week took ownership of her SECOND business – The Card Hut

This is an already established and successful marketplace greetings card and partyware business. Emma has exciting plans for developing the business further and shows us the market is already improving. Market stall businesses are now being sold as ongoing concerns (and quickly too!) – not just closing. #WomenInBusiness

Sheeraz Mohammed has moved Touch Link (Mobile Phone and I.T repairs and services) to an end cabin clearly visable from Newchurch rd. Sheeraz is open Tuesday through to Saturday so please call by for any phone/computer advice, sales or support. He is always happy to discuss anything with customers.

This is all great news for the outside marketplace as it develops this year. Although we continue to have the regular markets on Thursday and Saturday we have changed the licences to reflect demand for opening hours. Those traders who wish to open on other days can now do so.

We want the outside marketplace to be a more social space for people to enjoy, shop, eat, drink and gather socially – weather permitting!
